HCCI Anti-Racism Conference shifts online until September

Apr 23, 2020

Dear Attendees, Facilitators, and Presenters,

I hope you are all staying safe amid these uncertain times. As you know we postponed the Hamilton Anti-Racism Conference that was scheduled to happen last month (March 28th & 29th). Since then we have been discussing ways to continue this important work and event.

The HCCI staff decided that it would be best to have keynote sessions online until Provincial orders are lifted and public health officials say it is ok to congregate in mass numbers. As such we have scheduled bi-weekly online sessions starting on April 29th, 2020. These sessions will feature a number of keynote speakers that we booked for the conference.

Our intention is to still hold the workshops, panels and presentations at a later date possibly in before September 30th, 2020. This deadline is adhering to the funder’s stipulations and guidelines. We hope you will join us online via our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, & Youtube) next week Wednesday, April 29th, 2020 from 6-7 pm to hear from Desmond Cole and MPP Laura Mae Lindo. They will be talking about the impacts of COVID-19 on racialized communities and the broader context of systematic racism embedded in Canadian society.

We look forward to seeing you virtually and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at kdamptey@hcci.ca or Mohamed at mmohamed@hcci.ca.

Stay well, stay safe.
