Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion (HCCI) and Hamilton Immigration Partnership Council (HIPC) have partnered with Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) to launch #HamiltonForAll, a public awareness campaign that celebrates diversity and promotes Hamilton’s vision to be a Hamilton For All.

#HamiltoForAll aims at opening minds and encouraging Hamiltonians to stand up against prejudice, exclusion and discrimination based on ethnicity, race, religion, country of origin, disability, sexual orientation or other differences.

The initiative builds on OCASI’s #TorontoForAll and #AjaxForAll campaigns that have addressed racism, xenophobia,  Islamophobia and other issues.

#HamiltonForAll campaign visions an inclusive Hamilton by starting conversations among residents and paving the way to unlearning assumptions about people who are different and at the same time promoting for community-wide changes.

The campaign will launch in the Fall of 2017 with its first phase that aims at addressing misconceptions and stereotypes against immigrants, newcomers and refugees. ​Hamiltonian immigrants will be featured as the campaign ambassadors through photo stories accompanied by myth-busting facts to open conversations and unlearn common misconceptions about immigrants, newcomers and refugees.

#HamiltonForAll will be introduced to the community at HIPC’s Canadian Multicultural Exchange Station at the Canada 150 Celebration on July first at Bayfront  Park, Pier 4.

#HamiltonForAll is one of the of the 43 projects supported by Hamilton Community Foundation to mark Canada 150 in Hamilton with Canada 150 grant.
